If you want help here, more information is needed. Go to "C:\Users\your username\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2" and open "game.log.txt" (NOT game.crash.txt), then post it to pastebin.com (split if too big) then post the link to that page here.
The game just updated so you must have an incompatible mod. Check the game.log file in \documents\euro truck simulator 2\ to find out what is causing the crash. Reply reply
There have been quite a few updates and major changes with ETS2 1.10 and up. You may have a mod that is incompatible, perhaps a bulding or a vehicle, AI vehicle or anything that direction. The roads have changed, so a MAP mod can cause a crash if not up to spiff. When it crashes it'll place you into your home city. #2.
OK, just confirming on the top info from Koffiekopje, if someone still have this problem, do as it states in the main post. i started my game in normal game mode, set my game control settings, leave the graphics alone, drive the first load and drop it off at the destination, save, log out, open steam, right click on ETS 2, select start the game

As I understand it the game has lost the connection to the Windows DirectX
The way to fix this is: Step 1. Right click your 'Euro Truck Simulator 2 Multiplayer' / 'American Truck Simulators Multiplayer' .exe file, whether it be the shortcut on the desktop or actual file and then click properties. Step 2. If you right clicked it's shortcut, make sure you clicked the shortcut tab.
